If Gore had a suggestion box what suggestions for improvements, changes, additions, etc. would you like to see for next season? Please keep comments constructive and civil.

You never know who reads ski forums. You might have an idea that gets picked up.

much more terrain elements. scattered about the hill. nowadays, the norm is even including a boarder/cross course. Gore is falling further and further behind.

well theres a few of the obvious ones, more lifts midweek, you can never blow enuff snow, maybe to get a longer season.but the one that bugs me is there friends deal, witch is ok if you can find someone, and it gives the newb a discount, but what about us oldtimers, ive had a pass to gore for more than twenty years in a row,and thats not counting the ones my parents bought me when i was younger, prolly at least 30 total, yould think they wood throw folks like that a bone once in awhile, but no,only if i bring them new bussiness, not asking for much, but anything wood b nice.let me no they appreciate my bussiness.years ago they wood give a couple of passes to bring a friend, not much but something.guess ill have to wait till im 70.

and i think they have to pay attention to what some other mts r doing with there pricing,a few of my friends just got killington passes,339 for a midweek only,659 for a non holiday.not a bad deal if you ask me.and speking of passes ill b buying another 1 to gore for this year,in FRIGGEN JUNE just to save a buck, guess thats my bone.

This one would be applicable to Whiteface as well as Gore: have small jumps (like one foot tall) on the side of a trail for fun. When i ski with my kid, we try to seek out these small jumps - it's just so much more fun for him then just cruising all day long.

another one: Twister closing for racing is fine, albeit annoying since it's seems to happen every weekend. The races themselves are usually short, like 1 hour tops, so why don't Gore open Twister once the racers are gone and crew just taking gates/poles out..!

I think Gore and most other mountains in the Northeast could really capitalize by updating / reenginnering their websites. It's free advertising and in this day in age, you don't go anywhere without checking the trail reports beforehand. On several occasions this year, I've headed over to VT because I was relying on a Gore report posted late on the previous afternoon and the others just looked so much more appealing and operating more runs....

To tail in off Jimmer & the subject of numerous threads this past season, if mgmt is going to shut down portions of the mtn midweek, maybe it would be possible to workout a rotating schedule, ie HP chair & runs Mon & Wed, while North Side & Burnt Ridge runs Tues & Thurs, etc. & advertise it.

While I'm here, can anyone explain the logic behind the "Why Not Wednesday's?" I just don't understand how Gore can offer a discounted ticket on Wednesday's, but other weekdays you're paying ~$20 more a ticket.

-boundary to boundary

-have patio grill open all afternoon to about 5p to catch the apres crowd. Why they're closed at 4pm (or earlier) is beyond me.

-set up a little "mini" park--geared to those 10yrs and under--somewhere over in Northwoods area. Someplace for them to practice going over little jumps. No rails.

-let Lies bump up, or at least only groom half of it. Great trail.

-if Arena is going to be site of Walt's bumps, maybe regrade that side of it and leave it bumped all season. In full view of the deck is worth something...

Since you asked..... one more thing that hit a note during the threads this past season: Everything comes down to money, right? Go out and take a look at the other deals out there:

Midweek just as an example (M-F with select blackout dates-all basically the same):

Gore: $399
Mt. Snow: $399+tax
Killington: $349 (and they're still open!)+tax
Stratton: $299 (also valid @ Okemo & Mt. Sunapee)+tax
Windham: $199
Hunter: $199

I'm not suggesting the purchasing of a Non Gore pass, but Gore Mountain is a state run facility competing on some level with all of these places for its customer base. In this economic climate, as people are challenged to even take a day off to go skiing, they want the most for their $. Look at what you get at some of these other mountains for less, again I'm not saying they're better or worse, but they are Gore's competition.... What frosts me the most is the $399 is for Gore only and doesn't even entitle you to a discount at Whiteface.

Gore Mgmt really needs to take a hard look at this and incorporate in their strategic planning.

I typically visit Gore and Whiteface on opportunistic day trips, 5-6 times a year, combined, so season pass is not really my option, and Wednesdays cannot always work out. I purchased tickets through Liftopia for Whiteface for $48 and $36 in early/mid March.

Does anyone know why Gore does not release/sell tickets through Liftopia, and whether they'd consider doing it in the future?
I certainly would like to see it and to use it.

and on the whimsical side.............rides on the ski patrol sleds ! last season i summoned ski patrol for a woman who was too tired to ski down. she was exhausted, crying, totally bummed. after the sled ride she was all smiles. Very Happy she said it was the most fun she ever had. patrol commented that his kids love riding it too.

1. Eliminate some of the Gore flat areas.
a. Make the worm hole a real trail.
b. Move the very top of cloud a few feet to the skiers right, the part between Rumor and the Cloud sign. So you can get over with a lot less walking.
c. Turn the high peaks chair back into the summit chair.
d. Remove the old Gondola building
e. Can Echo be cut to the skiers left so it eliminates some of the flats?
2. Put a lodge in at the top of the Gondola
3. Put in some easy glades on the North chair area. I'm thinking of something like Emerald forest at Stratton. i second the idea for an little kids terrain park there also.
4. leave a couple of trails bumps on one side and groomed on the other, Uncas seems like a wide trail where you could do this.

I'm not sayin' you don't have a point, but I think you need to ammend the fact that your mid-week isn't gonna work on extended Spring weekends at K-mart ( open , or not ). Or any other weekends unless I don't get the concept of a MIDWEEK pass.

about 1b....... i skied the last saturday before closing. even though the snow was wet, the schlepp across the summit was markedly easier than i ever experienced before.
it seemed not as elevated and as if the melt lowered the surface enough to make it much, much easier. anybody else experience this? perhaps too much snow is made there(?) and causes an up and over effort? sure would be nice if it was always as easy as that saturday.

I think that pile of snow on the summit makes the late season possible.

I like the idea of grooming only half of Uncas. When you have a nice bump run...with an OUT (a way to bail) it makes it easier to learn bumps. When you are a beginner (at bumps) it can be intimidating to take on a long bumped up run.

Hell I like all of those ideas.

Kornfein for president.

maybe. not sure how much it gets distributed/pushed around, but if it's making the schlepp hard it could be piled up aside.
