Ummm . . . I don't know if anyone else noticed this in the Expansion Plan, but there appears to be new trails being cut from the area around the old Gondola Midstation. See here:

http://www.goremountain.com/SEIS/press/Map_1_-_SEIS_Site_Location_Map.pdf

One trail appears to go from the old Gondi midstation to the Topridge lift (looks like they'll bridge over Straight Brook), One trail goes from Fox Lair to the old Gondi Midstation, then it seems to have the Gondi liftline and a couple of access roads going down from there.

I heard about a lengthening and realignment of the Sunway chair (to the lower part of the old Gondi line) to mitigate that horrible Chair runout/Sunway/Otter Slide/2B intersection, but I haven't heard about Trails going to the OLD GONDOLA MIDSTATION!

I know I'm not the only one that's skied the Gondi line before . . . SICK terrain, which would be exponentially sicker without threat of Ski Patrol. It would also be kind of nice to have an easier access to the area (although the current entrance does cut down traffic considerably). Also, I can see it becoming the new spot to hit first on a powder day. Imagine sick steep terrain (and jumpable rocks if you're crazy enough) accessible from the Gondola for easy lappage . . . MMMMMMM . . .

Does anyone have any info on this part of the expansion plan?

Does anyone have any opinion about it?

For those who have skied it, How great is the Old Gondi Line from Old Gondi Midstation to Sunway Chair?

Matt...while I think I have seen that map before...for some reason the download wouldn't work. Maybe you can post the image? I do think that stuff is in the plan after the Burnt Ridge buildout.

Can't post the image (it's a pdf and I only have the free viewer).

It's available on the website, front page, click on "Gore Mountain Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement" on the left, then on "Map 1: Site Location Map"

Haha, well if it becomes an actual trail, then all of a sudden it becomes everyone's favorite superhighway . . .

I was just wondering people's opinion on that aspect of it.

Also, I never disclose entrances, specific locations, or exits . . . Just because I say it's been done, doesn't mean that someone will see this and think to do it. . . . I mean, you can see the line from the top of otter slide . . . I don't think it's such a big secret to anyone who's ever considered it . . .

I love how everyone acts like the board have thousands and thousands of members here that ski gore on saturday and sunday and have no idea about the mountain. Hell the site has 517 members right now and most of them are here for the WF board. The few that do post and read the Gore section all have a pretty strong knowledge of the mountain and its little stashes and secrets. We need to loosen up a bit on the TOP SECRET style of posting anything but marked trails / "legal" trails - now I'm not saying lets post how-to maps, but were all here for the same reasons with similar knowledge so we're all being more than a bit self-defeating...

Not sure about this forum specifically, but usually in these situations the ratio of lurkers to posters is extremely high. In some cases it's over 10-to-1. I think one of the moderators could probably tell us for sure.

Its a valid point. We can argue it amongst ourselves (which is about 20 of us) and pretend like the rest of the Gore-skiing world is watching...but fact is they're really not -- at least not at this stage of the site...(and the ones that are looking already have strong mountain knowledge)

Like I said, we don't need where-to, how-to maps, but personally we can loosen up a bit with this ULTIMATE SECRET LOCALES we've got working right now.

Refer to above, but yes most message boards have lurkers. The thing is this message board is insanely small, especially this section of it. We need to remember the demographics of this site...

Not looking for a fight, the exact opposite exactly...

It dosen't matter. Half of my "secret stashes" have been turned into marked gladed trails anyway.

But I'll tell you what is not a stash. Do not (seriously) try to make it to the rock chutes under the Gondola by way of Foxlair (by going straight when Foxlair doglegs left). I made that mistake, and it took me 45 mins to crawl my way back out of there.

Sometimes you find a stash, sometimes you dont.

Right on Jerry.
