Man dies in skiing accident
Updated: Tuesday, December 30, 2008 9:51 AM EST
WILMINGTON -- A New Jersey man died in a skiing accident Monday at Whiteface Mountain, State Police said.
Gerald M. Riley, 44, of Morristown, N.J., was pronounced dead shortly after the late morning accident at the ski area, official said.
He apparently lost control on John’s Bypass Trail and left the trail, veering into woods and hitting a tree, State Police said. The trail is considered to be of "intermediate" difficulty.
An autopsy conducted later Monday at Adirondack Medical Center in Lake Placid led to a conclusion he died from internal injuries, officials said.
My condolences to his family and friends.
