FEB 20 - MARCH 1 will see this event at the Olympic Sports Complex in Lake Placid, a short distance from Whiteface. Tickets are cheap, just $9.00! i believe one can stand " trackside " and watch the runs as they whoosh down the hill. also, there's an " All day World Championship Fan Fest " for most days.
info may be found here:

i'm going to sacrifice a half ski day to go AND watch some jumping at the nearby Olympic Jumping Complex courtesy of the Empire State Winter Games Feb. 20-22.

these Games include Biathalon, figure skating, ice hockey, speed skating, cross country skiing, ski jumping, and more all in the beautiful Lake Placid area.
Alpine ski events of Slalom and Giant Slalom will be held at Whiteface and they will be rippin!

info including schedule may be viewed here:

Some may not know that during non competition days - you can take a guided bobsled run on the lower half of the track!!! you can also ascend the ski jump towers and skate on storied Olympic Ice!!! how cool is that? they usually sell a combo ticket that includes all three.

Lake Placid is very unique.

It was always a childhood dream of my wife to ride a luge...
We made it come true in '05 on our first trip to LP (got hooked on skiing and have returned every year since :). Lucky for her, it was-unbeknown to us at the time- the last year it could be done.
Anyone know why the luge riding was discontinued (only offered one day now- I think Xmas day)????

there was something on here a week or so ago about a lawsuit and the track.

the guided bobsled rides are still going.

your wife must be a bit braver than the average gal. how much fun was it ?
