WILMINGTON, N.Y. – Upon the departure of recent spring conditions, snowmakers were back at work Tuesday night at Whiteface, the Olympic Winter Games mountain, in anticipation of another solid month of skiing and riding on the greatest vertical drop in the east.

Guns and hoses have been pumping the white gold since Tuesday night on trails such as Easy Street, Broadway, Lower Valley, Mixing Bowl and Mountain Run. Lower and Upper Thruway were scheduled to be added on Wednesday night.

“After the recent weather, we want to get all of our bread and butter trails back into great shape,” said Whiteface General Manager Jay Rand. “We’ll make snow around the clock,” continued Rand. “Our ultimate goal is to expand the terrain. To do this, all we need is Mother Nature to cooperate and, from the forecast, it looks like she’s going to be a little more agreeable.”

Despite the inclement weather which ended Monday, Whiteface has offered over 43 trails and three lifts, and plans top to bottom operation daily into May.

Diddo that, but still a good effort, and thanks for the chuckle.

Regardless, looks like another SCHWEEEET Spring skiing/riding weekend on tap, and I can't wait to see the carnage in an attempt to get crowned King/Queen Applebutter.

What price apples.
