At the risk of being embarrassed, my initial thought was Draper's, but then I noticed the coat ( not to mention the date ), and figured it could be a shot of Thruway before it became the park, but, then again, you'll probably tell me it's Parkway.

BTW, how many guesses do we get inside the rules of this totally, "Jack me up for Winter" thread ( another stroke of brilliance by HPD )?

Hmmm...rules...how about one guess at a time per person per pic. that's enough rules.

Not Thurway or Drappers or Parkway.

Thanks, but not brilliance...I copied the idea from Alpinezone.

nah, that's " old fart standing in snow " trail. jk.

the slides always look so cool.

here's a thought. i think an SKIADK forum guided slide run should be organized when/if the slides open this year. they seem like such a ski treasure and i know many would like to go. i hear it's wise to go with a guide. Harv's kinda frothing to go. not sure it's up my alley but it would be very nice if others could experience this unique area.

predicting their opening would be the issue. One of us, , has an excellent feel of what's happening on the Mtn. combine his insight with an approaching snow dump and it may be a go. worth a try.

You can believe it, or not, but I actually called this one when it was first put up ( maybe a result of how many times I lay panting like some old tired dog after a ride down Skyward ).

Anyway, go figure.

And yes, I also know an "after the fact" means dick.

Regardless, I take great personal, though not official pleasure in knowing I had a very rare moment of awareness when High Peaks Gods like T, and Face were found lacking.

Who knows, maybe there's hope for me yet.

I hate to go out on a limb, but that pic is clearly not Parons. I gotta believe SKIdds is right... it is either Skyward or Cloudspin.

If you take a close look at the backround below, you'll see the Face Lift with Easy Street, Broadway and Upper Valley in clear view. You will even see the On Ramp off to the right as it shoots into the woods toward Mackenzie.

Based on the sheer width and (relatively) even pitch of the trail from left to right, I would have to say this is Upper Skyward taken from Riva Ridge. You can even see some poles on skiers right leaning into the trail 'bout a handful of guns downhill... used to put up 'A' nets for the downhill race course.

I just hope that HPD will agree... especially since he probably took the pic himself.

I bet I can get you to say nope again.

So guessing Parons would be wrong?

Parron's is correct. :D

Yep, S4L is right (he always is  ). Sorry my bad

For HPD's latest - i'm thinking one of the switchbacks between cloud and sky. I'm not sure which one though. We're definitely looking toward sky, and the mellower pitch suggests lower switchback.

Really? I perhaps am confusing it with another area involving a lean to with three or so different rock levels on the inside. Theres a little 5 foot drop or so to flat just before you get to it. Unless Ive always missed the entrance proper and entered through another area. I always was told that was the Ravens Nest, but Ive also heard that its also in the area of the glades to skiers left of empire. If thats the case meh, and if anyone knows the other area Im talking about, whats it called?

That's it.

I've been to the lean 2, it was in pretty bad shape the last I saw it. I don't know the name of that area. Every little section of WF has an unofficial name so I'm sure it has one I just don't know it. Maybe it is raven's Nest as opposed to the Raven's section that you discribed.
