This is a cross-post from Alpine Zone, where people recommended I ask over here. I've already received several helpful suggestions, and some searching on this site has been helpful as well, but I'm wondering if anyone has any lodging recommendations.

My wife and I are looking to stay in Lake Placid for New Years weekend. We're willing to spend about $200 per night, we'd like to be near town because my wife may or may not ski, and she'd really like to have access to a hot tub. Thanks in advance for any input or suggestions!

p.s. - I'm relatively new to the Northeast, so this will be my first trip to Whiteface. I've been scoping out various TRs here an on AZ, and I'm really excited to check it out.

We've stayed at the Courtyard. Highly recommend it. Only a couple years old, nice pool and hot tubs. Usually under $200, although I'm not sure about a holiday period. Only knock is that it isn't a middle of town, walking distance to shops location, if that is what you are looking for. The Courtyard is a shuttle route stop though.

Only other places we've stayed in LP are the Mirror Lake Inn and Whiteface Lodge. Both highly recommended, but usually more than $200 in season.......but you never know when they might have a decent package or special.

Lots of places to stay in Wilmington, that may not be as fancy, but still nice, clean and closer to WF.

Yeah, if I were going with one of my usual ski buddies, I'm certain that's where we'd stay. My wife, who grew up upstate and has spent a fair amount of time in the area, really wants to stay in Lake Placid.

We have only rented houses up there with other folks so I can't give you a specific recommendation on a hotel or smaller place. We have found 3-4 bedroom houses for $200-$300 a night though so I am sure you could get a one bedroom or studio for less than that. There are also a few apartments listed on those sites in town.

It is really nice to be able to walk right into town. We found a 4 bedroom house in town for new years for $250 a night and it looks like a pretty nice place.

Good luck and have a great time.
