There's new terrain open that only has natural snow cover. When i was there on Thursday people were already skiing some of it. People with " way fat skis " were hitting bottom on these trails and those with normal skis were having an additionally tough time just getting down the trail. Maybe it's different now but i thought i'ld post a heads up FYI.

Good info thanks.

Do you think something that is grassy like Showcase would be ok?

Gore's talking about 20 trails open for tomorrow. Any idea where manmade has been added?

Hopefully we can pull a few more inches out of Sunday's event.

Can't wait to hit it.

other than Ruby/Sunway to Quicksilver/Quicksilver..... as of Thursday, the only other trails i saw with guns on were Topridge, Headwaters and Sunway down from Quicksilver. Prior to the storm, those other trails now open WERE ALL BARE! BUT may have gotten gunned since Thursday, but i would ask. Thursday, I saw a avid telie skier having a real hard time just getting down the Arena right in front of the Lodge!

Jimmer had some great advice. Some of those drainages ditches are deep and steep when you see them bare. Unpacked snow cover may conceal a hazard. Sure would suck to start the season with an injury. just sayin.

Be careful and follow Jimmer's advice. He's wise in this area.

Talked to some people at the mountain today... Said the chair was running but there was no way to get to it..

I was at the mountain, I couldnt get to it? Didnt see anyone at the summit nor did I see snowmaking. The best runs today were quicksilver and topridge in my opinion.

fujative.

I didn't ski Quicksilver once today actually, probably should have checked it out. I took Topridge once, it wasn't too bad. I skied Wild Air and Showcase (first tracks!) which had a pretty thin cover, and was pretty crusty. Later in the day middle showcase sort of had some bumps forming, but the cover was still pretty thin. Definitely a day for the park skis.

Yeah, I couldnt get to the chair either. Topridge was great all day, especially in the afternoon sun down skiers left side.

I saw snowmaking on Pine Knot, Bear Mt summit, and Showcase. A beautiful day, I was really happy with the snow and the conditions \m/ One more shot of natural snow would be awesome.

Agree, good day overall. Also seeing less than 25 cars in the paid parking was positive!

Agreed Hoser!

Gore sure is taking beating on their Face Book Page over this Paid Parking. People just keep bitchin. Poor Auntie Em! Seems like she has to field all the negative Face Book posts and the negative phone calls. She is earning her coin. Maybe we should get her a gift. we could call it....." Pitching in for that Bitching thang ". LOL

Keep an eye out for Pratt or the Weasel on the Mtn.....then let them have an earfull of Gold Parking.

Some said they were having a hard time finding Gore's Face book page. Here's a link to all that stink*.

The snow was good, the sun was shining... I just wish that some of the trails that were 'open' on the site before I drove up actually were (not that I actually drove far... but still...)

And I REALLY liked that there were so few cars in the paid parking.

I do feel bad for Emily, she's so sweet and to get all these complaints dumped on her is a bit much. Especially since the whole paid parking and where to blow snow really isn't up to her.

Hope for a good day tomorrow too.

Primo pictures Goofy.

I skied Gore today. Bell-to-bell.

Great weather today. Cold in the morning - maybe 5 degrees. It warmed up to about 20 by 10am. It started to snow around 1, and then dumped for a couple hours. We got at least 4 inches and NOTHING bad.

It was pure basebuilding stuff. Dense but not icy.

If you've been watching the radar tonight, you saw some more Gore magic. The "dry slot" saved us again.

It was a long day. Full TR is here:

I would've been totally PISSED OFF if I had driven 4 hours to ski Chatiemac and Hawkeye only to find them closed! I have plans to go up this weekend, but now I'm wondering if it will be worth it. I'm not paying full price to ski only the lower mountain. They better have it open if it says so on their website.

I don't feel bad for Emily. It's her job. She's lucky to have it.

I do think it is ridiculous that they are removing anything negative. I suppose if you keep posting, eventually someone will see it before it is deleted.

Paid parking sux, but I guess they have to make up for money lost with fewer people showing up to ski. At least you have a choice whether to pay or not.

Glad Harvey got some good turns in during the snow on Sunday.

^^^That girl has spunk.^^^^

Check back towards the week's end PDQ and we'll post what's really open so you won't have the rely on Gore's Rumors and Lies. We'll keep you from falling into an Open Pit with a Sleeping Bear. By keeping a real Hawkeye on the trails we can give you a Fairview on wether you're Wood In or Wood Out for a Showcase day. Gore sometimes has it's Headwaters in a Cloud and presents a trail report that's more than a little Twister and a lot of Wild Air which is of course Gay, Pete. They Otter Slide into a better mode so we could Cedars more clearly what trails are open and not all Echo the same complaints. Perhaps they should ask Santanoni for forgiveness cause they certainly Unc as on that last one. We'll keep you in the Pipeline.

Maybe the snowmaking budget is only funded from gold parking.

Seriously, it is a very disappointing situation. The big holiday is less than 2 weeks away and still very little open. With the holiday day rate at 74.00, there are going to be a lot of pised off customers, or possibly a fairly empty mountain.

I would have been up this weekend, but not enough open for my wife and I. (and my wife does not have a season pass, so Gore lost real revenue)

Sweet!

Thanks for letting me know when to Saddle up to the Top Ridge. Hopefully it won't be a Bear to get there, even if the parking lot is full except for the Gold Parking. There should be a Jamboree when the light goes on The Dark Side, or maybe just a Hullabaloo.

I feel like we start this argument every year. I think Gore is fine. When we're skiing bumps on Hawkeye next weekend, we'll look back and say "Why were we all so pissed on Monday again?"

Agreed. I'd rather have stuff open a day or week later so they can pound the hell outta it without it getting skied off.

I skied today. No new terrain, and they had to turn the guns off around 10 as temps got too warm.

Still conditions were good....Topridge and Twin Fawns especially. They left a good amount ungroomed on the sides so there was a decent amount of untracked around.

Anyone else make it up? A few pics here:
