Finished it off Sunday in the wee hours of the morning. Couldn't put it down, Awesome book!

I LOVE THEM MARINES!!

If the Army and the Navy
Ever look upon Heaven's scenes
They will see that the streets
Are guarded by United States Marines!

You should enlist. I for one would feel alot safer.

I'm looking forward to seeing the movie.

I'm even more excited for the companion film from eastwood telling the iwo jima story from the japanese perspective. Not that I think that Flags will be anything other than great, but i get the feeling that the companion film will be truly stellar. To hear eastwood talk you get the sense that he really had more passion for making the japanese version than for making flags- and that's a good thing.

Speaking of old war films and books, I met an old WW II vet in the base lodge. He had written a book called "THROUGH THE EYES OF A LEATHERNECK", and was supposed to be released this summer. His name is Fred Orshan, lives I think in the NYC area, but has a home in LP also. If anyone is interested, his emailis : irisofredo@aol.com. I have been meaning to contact him, but haven't as yet.

I went to go see saving private ryan at the drive -ins but i fell asleep and missed it.
