I just got off the phone with my brother- he heard a report of Gore getting dumped on from the storm- any verifications?

Looked very white up there when I came to work this morning. Indian Lake area got hammered. 16" in Cedar River. :D

most likley its not from the past weekend. could be one of many old arials.

The pic is from Gore archives but the mountain was white this morning.

This photo is from Headwaters looking at Hawkeye and Rumor.. Friend from the mountain just sent it to me...Taken today (Monday 10/30/06). They have another photo on the website as well now.

When was the earliest people started making hike-for-turns in the past....as in how much snow depth? Stowe's at around 16-20 inches right now.

I heard the snow was really wet and heavy....knee ripping stuff.. They are working on the mountain on that trail they are building and I was told it was really tough going today up there for everyone hiking around. Word is, if the leaves weren't off the trees there would have been lots of knockdowns. According to the patrol no one is officially allowed on the mountain now anyway, because of all the rock blasting they are doing.. so I don't think anyone skied it... yet....

rock blasting i assume is for the grading they are doing to fix the flats at bottom of fairview and the new ruby trail

I think that its a safe bet to say the snows going to be gone by morning. its 63* in Cortland right now and rain just moved in. Give it a few hours and it would be raining there too
