I just got my two year old her first pair of skis. ( XC stlye that you can put any boot into ) I was wondering if anyone has some sage advice as to how to make learning to ski a sucessful endeavor? Any good tips? Progressions? So far we have skied around her bedroom, our backyard, and kiddie kampus at WF.
I've had great success with the Kid-Ski teaching aids with all three of my kids. I introduced them all to skiing by the age of three. The older two are now 9 and 6 and doing very well in the Kids Kampus programs. The Kid-Ski stuff gives you everythng you need to progress them through various levels of early skiing. Tip and wedgle locks allow them to get a feel for keeping the skis in the right position for learning. The pole allows you to lead them down th mountian under your control. Progressing to the harness and leash allows you to gradually turn a lot of the control over to them while you still keep them in check. A couple of years of introduction through these tools and they were plenty ready for ski school by age 5. Here's a link to the products I used.
