I'm not really local, but was just looking at some info...looks like NOAA is not exactly sure if it will be snow or mixed in LP, looks like big snow south in the mighty Mohawk Valley..

.SHORT TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT/...
    -- Changed Discussion --
AS OF 355 PM EST THURSDAY...WX BEGINS TO DETERIORATE ON FRIDAY AS
FULL LATITUDE TROUGH DEVELOPS ACROSS THE CENTRAL STATES...LEADING
TO SFC CYCLOGENESIS ALONG THE NRN GULF COAST. THIS LOW EXPECTED TO
DEEPEN FAIRLY RAPIDLY AND LIFT NORTHEAST TOWARDS THE REGION LATER
FRIDAY....BRINGING A SIGNIFICANT PCPN EVENT TO THE NORTH COUNTRY
FRI NITE THRU SAT NITE. PTYPE STILL IN QUESTION...BUT LATEST
GUIDANCE NOW SUGGESTS THAT MUCH OF PCPN WILL FALL AS FROZEN PCPN
OR FRZG RAIN. HAVE THEREFORE ISSUED WINTER STORM WATCH FOR ENTIRE
    FORECAST AREA.

DURING THE DAY ON FRIDAY...ANY PCPN WHICH OCCURS WILL BE ON THE
LIGHT SIDE...AND WITH SFC TEMPS WELL INTO THE 30S TO LOWER 40S
DURING THE PM HRS...ANY PCPN WILL BE RAIN OR RAIN/SNOW MIX WITH
LITTLE IF ANY ACCUM. BEST CHC WILL BE IN ST LWR VLY...WEST OF
INVERTED SFC TROUGH WHICH SETS UP ACROSS NRN NY.

PCPN COVERAGE AND INTENSITY INCREASES FRIDAY NIGHT WITH INITIAL
SURGE OF WAA AND RESULTING OVERRUNNING PCPN. TEMP PROFILES SUGGEST
THAT PTYPE FRI NITE WILL BE MAINLY SNOW ACRS NRN TIER OF ZONES
WITH A FEW INCHES PSBL...WHILE MIXED PCPN EXPECTED ELSEWHERE. PCPN
DIMINISHES LATE FRI NITE/EARLY SAT WITH DEPARTURE OF INITIAL WEAK
SFC WAVE EAST OF NEW ENGLAND. THE MAIN EVENT WILL THEN OCCUR SAT
PM/NITE AS INTENSIFYING SFC LOW LIFTS NORTH ACRS MID ATLC STATES
TOWARDS NEW ENGLAND. LATEST GUIDANCE TRENDING A BIT FURTHER EAST
WITH TRACK OF SFC AND H8 LOWS...RESULTING IN A SLIGHTLY COLDER
TEMP PROFILE. WARM WEDGE OF AIR BTWN 800 MB AND 700 MB STILL
PROGGED TO MOVE INTO AREA DURING SAT...BUT LLVL TEMPS BELOW
FREEZING...WITH NORTHERLY WINDS FORECASTED FROM SFC UP TO ABOUT 5K
FT. THIS WILL LIKELY LEAD TO SIGNIFICANT FREEZING RAIN EVENT ACRS
CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN AREAS...WITH MIX OR SNOW OVER FAR NORTH.
AS UPPER LOW MOVES ACRS REGION DURING SAT NITE...EXPECT ALL PCPN
TO CHANGE TO SNOW BEFORE TAPERING TO SNOW SHWRS LATE. AT THIS
TIME...EXPECTING MOST SIGNIFICANT SNOW AMOUNTS WIT THIS EVENT TO
OCCUR OVER ST LWR VLY...AND NRN TIER OF ADRNDKS/CHMPLN VLY/NRN VT.
HEAVIEST ICING...1/2 TO 3/4 INCH EXPECTED ACRS CHMPLN VLY AND
CENTRL VT. TOTAL QPF WITH THIS EVENT EXPECTED TO EXCEED ONE INCH
ACRS CWA. SITUATION WILL NEED TO BE WATCHED CLOSELY...AS ANY SHIFT
IN PROJECTED TRACK OF UPPER LOW OR SFC LOW WILL ALTER WHERE
HEAVIEST AMOUNTS OF SNOW/ICE WILL OCCUR.

While there is still a bit of uncertainty, things are looking better for Whiteface this Sunday. Too early to predict snow totals, but the mountain could see a decent amount of snow out of this. Will know for sure tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed.

Whiteface is in a better position than most other mountains in the northeast with this storm-- that's for sure.

I live in LP and this is the forecast I saw this morning...

A winter storm watch remains in effect from this evening (Friday) through Sunday morning.
A complex winter storm will spread a wintry mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain across the north country late this afternoon through Saturday. The potential exists for 6 or more inches of snow and sleet accumulation across the central northern adirondack mountains and far northern champlain valley by Sunday morning. Meanwhile, a light to moderate ice accumulation along with lesser amounts of snow and sleet will be possible across the remainder of the champlain valley as well as northern and central vermont by Sunday morning. A winter storm watch means the potential exists for more than 6 inches of snow or significant ice accumulation.

    Here's to hoping! :P

The mountain is reporting 4-5 inches this morning (mid-summit). Could be worse.
