    Cell Phones and Ski Patrol

Recently a couple of skiers have used their cell phones to report accidents by calling 911. If you carry a cell phone, please program the Gore Mountain phone number 518-251-2411 into your phone. In the event of an accident, please call Gore instead of 911. The ski patrol will get to you faster and they are best prepared to determine a) if you require an ambulance and b) what level of ambulance care is required if any. Calling 911 will result in a delayed response and the dispatching of, potentially, unnecessary resources. If you don't know the Gore #, dialing 911 is better than nothing, but if you ski Gore all the time you'll be better prepared if you call the right number.

Ask for Base First Aid as soon as they answer.

    This is great info......

Makes me start thinking that maybe ski areas with assistance of national ski patrol might come up with a x11 number...post the crap out of it.....so everyone knows it and then it is answered directly in the patrol shack.

Action item: I plan to post both ideas on a web site that gets some national exposure.
