    NE skiing deaths this year

Does anyone know how many deaths have occurred on NE slopes this year? I heard (via the Gore board below ours) that someone died this week on Lies. Someone in my office metioned that in addition to Gore some other area had a death. You usually hear about this stuff on the news (mountains themselves aren't going to be putting that on their websites) but I haven't heard anything on the news this year.

Couple of deaths at Hunter . . . One at Cannon . . . It does seem like there's been a bunch of them this year. I think that some of it has to do with ski areas grooming their trails to death. I rarely (if ever) hear about deaths at MRG. In fact, nobody's ever died on Rumor when it's been bumped. Bumps force people to take their time and pick their way down mountains. It's the groomers that people feel invincible on. They get on their shaped skis and they crank out super G turns as if they're Bode (well, old Bode that used to win).
