If you've never skied in the Chic Chocs on the Gaspe' Peninsula in Quebec you really should go. No lifts so tele or AT gear is a must. The snow is deep and plentiful and the terrain is fantastic - it's mostly above treeline because of its northerly latitude. All these storms that we end up on the warm side of down here always (and I mean always) fall as snow up there. Check out the video here. And when you're done with a big day skiing go back to your room or chalet at the Gite du Mt. Albert and get a five course french meal. All for less than $60 per day/per person. I haven't been since 2001 but I wanna go back.

I know this isn't related to NY skiing but I watched that vid and got all charged up. Hope you don't mind HPD.
